Just 3 Months to CCR23
Welcome to the 588th Critical Care Reviews Newsletter, bringing you the best critical care research and open access articles from across the medical literature over the past seven days.
The highlights of this week's edition are randomised controlled trials comparing the McGrath Mac videolaryngoscope with conventional laryngoscopy in elective surgery & investigating methylene blue in patients with septic shock; systematic reviews and meta analyses on short versus long-course antibiotic therapy for ventilator-associated pneumonia & piperacillin/tazobactam versus carbapenems in patients with severe bacterial infections; and observational studies on resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta compared to aortic cross-clamping in severely injured trauma patients & antimicrobial exposures in critically ill patients receiving ECMO.
There are also guidelines & position statements on atrial fibrillation occurring during acute hospitalization & the management of pulmonary hypertension in noncardiac surgery; narrative reviews on neuromonitoring in critically ill patients & videolaryngoscopy should be standard of care for tracheal intubation; editorials on prothrombin complex concentrates in cardiac surgery & personalized medicine for optimal prehospital fluid resuscitation in the severely injured adult trauma patient; and commentaries on trials on oxygen targets in the critically ill patients & out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
If you only have time to read one review article this week, try this one on SHock-INduced Endotheliopathy (SHINE).
